AGE: Mid-late 30's
MOTIVATION: Live life to the fullest. It's a journey; savor it. Fight for what is worth fighting for.
ARRIVAL SCENARIO: Ruins.
HISTORY: He's a busy bear.
PERSONALITY: As the first Pandaran to ever appear in the Warcraft universe, Chen is in many ways the typical one who embraces their philosophy with vigor and gusto. "Live in the moment" is a good way to put it -- slow down and embrace what you are doing, enthusiastically and wholeheartedly. Chen truly enjoys what he does, whatever he does -- adventuring, brewing, drinking, fighting, or just traveling along and seeing the sights. This puts him at perpetual odds with his impatient niece, who can't understand why he's sitting there taking his time with a beer when they have all of their legendary ancestral homeland to explore. "If we explore Pandaria too quickly," he responds, "we will run out of Pandaria to explore." The Wanderer's Way, as he calls his adventuring, is less action and more attitude. "Every one you meet is a story. Every place you go is an adventure. Every drink you have is the best you've ever tasted."
Like most Pandaran, Chen is extraordinarily difficult to rile -- but unlike the Pandarian natives, Chen seems to have acquired this trait with age and experience instead of as a matter of culture. In his youth he was quicker to argue, but these days very little seems to get his goat -- be it Li Li nagging and insulting him, an orc and a human teaming up to attack him, or a distant relative of his bringing a famous brewery to ruin (though the last one did annoy him a bit).
What really gets to Chen is family -- he gets the most upset when family is involved. His When his relatives reject him completely, he stomps off and sulks for a bit before he decides he's going to win them over no matter what. The other one comes when he finds one of his lost Stormstout relatives dead -- a young girl, who looks like Li Li, and who he has to bury despite never knowing her. His inability to relate to his own brother feeds into all this; Chen has wandered so long he has no place to belong, and his very wandering his driven a rift between him and his sibling. Little surprise that finding his distant relatives fills him with such mixed emotions.
Similarly, Chen spares absolutely no effort in the defense of family, even in principle. When the village of Stoneplow was threatened with a mantid invasion, Chen rallied everyone to help defend it, up to the point of getting the Alliance and the Horde to fight side-by-side for the first time in years. And just don't mess with Li Li. Even if you drank demon blood to become a fel orc blademaster, he will end you. His loyalty to his friends runs similarly deep.
Even his darker moments don't last for long, though. He's gregarious and friendly, and hard to keep down -- his earlier sulk barely lasted any time at all, and after proclaiming he didn't want to talk about it, he immediately did nothing but, then set out to fix the situation.
Chen has practically been everywhere and done everything -- to the point that he was pretty much on both sides of the Third War, fighting next to Magni Bronzebeard one moment and helping found Orgrimmar the next. He's responsible for a yearly holiday based on drinking, and has visited Outland to see what it's like. The lifestyle is slowly catching up to him, as he occasionally gives voice to the idea of settling down; Pandaria speaks to him deeply, as a beautiful place with lots to brew and lots to fight.
Chen loves a good fight the way he loves everything else, but he's just as likely to solve a real problem by cunning instead of brute force. He once managed to get three trolls who captured him so drunk he was able to just wander off, for example.
For no adequately explained reason, he hates being interrupted while he is banging on doors.
SKILLS / POWERS: Chen is a pandaran Brewmaster, or to put it another way, a skilled martial artist and brewer, if the two are even different at all to the brewmaster. Though a little past his prime, Chen is still an incredibly strong martial artist, with stamina and surprising dexterity to supplement his power.
His ultimate ability, Storm, Earth, and Fire, splits him into three elemental spirits who each can attack according to their nature. He is also capable of slightly less supernatural but still remarkable feats like breathing fire thanks to a little heat and a mouthful of alcohol.
Skillwise... he's a brewer, and a damn good one at that.
NERFING: Chen will be nerfed.
INVENTORY: Chen arrives with his clothing, his staff, his hat, and (most importantly) his keg, still almost entirely full of stout ale.
